Abundance Medicine
A Spiritual Perspective on Abundance, Interconnectedness and the Medicine of the Butterfly.
I want to use the butterfly to elaborate a little more on abundance.
What we usually see is a beautiful and fairy‑like animal that seems impossibly delicate – the fullest expression of abundance and beauty. The butterfly flies around and pollinates our plants and shares its beauty with the world. A frequency that we may long to live in as often as possible.
The Endless Search for Meaning
Yet what we rarely see and talk about are all the stages that come before, especially the chrysalis stage. After the caterpillar leaves the egg there’s a phase of endless hunger. Often blindly, the caterpillar will eat everything to get bigger and bigger.
It seeks nourishment outside, and it honestly feels like the endless spiritual search that many of us are sometimes stuck in – this want and need to find someone or something to fill the lack within.
And then, one day, the caterpillar enters its chrysalis and begins a transformation that feels almost incomprehensible. It leaves everything it knew about the Self behind and completely dissolves.
This metamorphosis is something that can hardly be described or imagined. Everything that was the caterpillar dissolves and turns into mush – and once all is gone – a new animal forms: the butterfly. When the transformation is complete, the butterfly is ready to crack the shell open and spread its wings.
This is how I see abundance also being part of our life.
Journaling Questions for May:
Abundance:
Where do you feel abundant in your life?
If I could wish for anything in my life, what would it be? HOW would it feel like?
Lack Frequency:
Which aspects of the self feel in “lack”? How are you living from these frequencies?
Where am I holding myself back?
Metamorphosis:
How many times in my life have I completely transformed? Was it easy, was it hard? What helped the process?
What would it mean to completely surrender and step into a metamorphosis with the frequency of abundance?
